What makes a candle smoke?
The most common cause is that the wick is too long. Trim the wick
to 1/4". This can be done using either a fingernail clipper
or a small scissor. If wick still continues to smoke, trim the
wick to 1/8". Also make sure that the candle is away from
any form of draft as this will cause a wick to smoke.
How long should I burn my candle?
We recommend a two hour burn period for our smaller candles (petite
and small). For our larger sizes we recommend a burn period of
three to six hours.
What is the purpose of the cork included with my candle?
The votive cup included with your candle should be placed on the
cork in the middle of the hurricane candle. This will prevent
the heat from the cup melting the bottom of the candle shell.
Also by positioning the cup in the middle of the candle it prevents
the heat from melting the sides of the shell.
When I replace my votive how do I remove the wax from
the cup?
A simple but very effective way is prior to placing a votive in
a votive cup place 1/4 tsp of water in the bottom of the votive
cup. When the votive is completely burned the wax residue can
be easily removed with a paper towel.
Do you use lead core wicks in your votives?
No. We use only paper core wicks which have been proven to be
totally safe.
How long do your candles burn?
Unlike most candles you are familiar with, our hurricane candles
are wax shells which if used correctly will last indefinitely.
The illumination comes from the votive placed inside the shell.
Our votives, which we make ourselves, last approximately 15 hours.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards. At this
